Silence for the words
A plaint
Written around the line “The ground hears first”
from Pretty Thunder’s Close-Looking Woman
What have we done By letting the sun Slip away before resolution?
A cool-headed talk Or afternoon walk And shared commonalities
Rather than aggression harkened Peaceful shores shadowed dark As the machinery of threat looms
Can there not be a breath Instead of straight to the death A tantrum without its baby teeth?
The ground hears first Cacophonous bursts Shattering our ancient purpose
Reverse history’s doom In the silence of vacuum Culture’s scattered flakes returning whole
What of two chairs on a portico Tea in olive filigree porcelain And the patience of our sun, the mediator?
As intimidating as it is to write behind Pretty Thunder, I am thankful for the tag and had a great time writing it (sorry about the tardiness).
